7th Pay Commission to The Employees Working in BSNL

Good news for Employees working in BSNL who are on deputation.

It could have been a boring year for a number of central government employees expecting good news on the 7th Pay Commission. However, there is a bit of joy as the Central government is willing to grant increases in the basic salary and also to liquidate all outstanding contributions to hundreds of central government employees. Once this order takes effect, nearly 9 lakh CG employees get an increase in their basic minimum wage.

This increase would apply to the BSF (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) Service Selection Board (SSB), Indian Railway employees, Indian Telecom Service (ITS) and those are working in the BSNL on deputation basis.

This move comes in the wake of BSNL employees protesting about asking for salary increases and promotions and reviewing pensions in accordance with the 3rd Payments Commission recommendations. This according to them is applicable every 10 years. It is likely that their requests will only be addressed in the next budget session. On the other hand, staff, public complaints and pensions have issued a notification, which speaks of a five-fold increase in incentives. The incentives would be applicable to the following:

  • Doctorate or equivalent (PhD): Rs 30,000
  • PG / diploma with a duration exceeding one year or equivalent: Rs 25,000
  • PG / diploma with a duration of less than one year or equivalent: Rs 20,000
  • Degree / Diploma lasting more than 3 years or equivalent: Rs 15,000
  • Degree with a duration of less than 3 years or equivalent: Rs 10,000
In the midst of all that is pale and gloomy, this news is a relief for the hundreds of thousands of CG employees. 7 Pay Commission recommended an increase of Rs 18,000 in the basic minimum wage, but employees requested CG Rs 26,000.
