To maintain lost market share, the Public telecommunications company in India BSNL stepped up the game in the broadband industry. BSNL will offer new broadband plans starting October 1, 2020, in select cities with starting prices of Rs 449.
Yes, the new Bharat Fiber plans target directly the revised JioFiber plans which now start at Rs 399. According to a bsnl's exclusive website release bsnltariff.com, BSNL will begin offering four broadband plans priced at Rs 449, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499. BSNL is introducing these plans on a promotional basis, which means they will be valid for 90 days from October 1st, after which the ISP will remove them or extend availability. Another thing worth noting is that BSNL will only offer these Bharat Fiber plans in cities / areas "where there are competitive challenges".
BSNL Fiber Basic Broadband Plan at Rs 449: Detailed Benefits
Starting with the Rs 449 broadband plan, it's called "Fiber Basic" and offers user speeds of 30 Mbps up to 3.3TB or 3300GB. After the FUP limit, speeds will be reduced to 2 Mbps. This plan is valid in all circles except Andaman and Nicobar circles. Please note that BSNL users who opt for this plan will also have the benefit of unlimited voice calls to any network in India.
BSNL Fiber Value Broadband Plan at Rs 799: detailed benefits
Second on the list is the BSNL Fiber Value plan which costs Rs 799 per month and offers speeds of 100 Mbps up to 3300GB or 3.3TB. Users also get free access to landline calls and post-FUP speeds of 2 Mbps. BSNL does not offer long-term plan options for newly introduced plans. The minimum contract duration for each plan is one month.
BSNL Fiber Premium Broadband Plan at Rs 999: Detailed Benefits
As the price of the plan says, the BSNL Fiber Premium plan at Rs 999 buys the JioFiber plan at Rs 999. BSNL users will have speeds of 200 Mbps up to 3.3TB and after FUP 2 Mbps, which is disappointing. However, JioFiber's speeds after FUP still remain at 1Mbps, which is also disappointing. Again, BSNL doesn't offer long-term options for this plan, and subscribers get the benefit of unlimited voice calling as well.
BSNL Fiber Ultra Broadband Plan at Rs 1,499: Detailed Benefits
Finally, we have the BSNL Fiber Ultra broadband plan which costs Rs 1499 per month and comes with speeds of 300 Mbps. This is BSNL's most premium offering as the company currently offers top speeds of 200 Mbps in various cities. It will be interesting to see the speeds this plan offers. In recent times, we have seen BSNL phase out the 200 Mbps broadband plan in several cities.
The 300 Mbps has a FUP limit other than 4000GB or 4TB, 4 Mbps after the FUP speed and also offers unlimited calling advantage. And yes, the BSNL Fiber Premium and Fiber Ultra plans will also offer the Disney + Hotstar Premium subscription. If a customer forgoes both plans, their OTT subscription will also be canceled unless they choose to migrate to the SuperStar300 and SuperStar 500 broadband plans.
As previously mentioned, BSNL will begin offering all four plans in various cities from October 1, 2020. And if the company has no competition in a particular circle or city, these plans will not be offered. For the uninitiated, BSNL is India's leading broadband service provider with broad coverage compared to Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. The above prices do not include taxes.
