Leading DTH (Direct-To-Home) Operator in India Tata Sky adds 6 new HD channels to its stores totaling 44 HD channels in Tata arsenal.
Out of 44 HD channels includes 3 Showcase HD channels (HD movies on demand) and 3 special HD channels (HBO Hits, HBO defined, Star world premier HD) which are not included in an base pack of Tata Sky.

Newly added HD channels Movies Now HD available on channel number 353, History TV18 HD on channel number 563, Epic HD on channel number 133, FX HD on channel number 203, Nat Geo-Wild HD on channel number 555 and Zee Café HD on channel number 207. Subscribers on paying of HD access fee will be available which not parts of base pack are unless subscribed to Mega HD pack.

According sources from Tata sky is actively converting its services from MPEG-2 platform to MPEG-4 following advanced standards, as a result freeing up transponder capacity for broadcasting more number of channels for better services to subscribers.
Right now Tata sky uses 12 transpornders on Insat-4A and plans on continuing to use the same till 2019.
