From 1st January, 2016 MTNL to offer Free National Roaming on BSNL network

Public Sector Unit (PSU) Mhanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced to offer Free National Roaming to its customers on BSNL network across the country from 1st January, 2016. 

MTNL customers are charged for receiving incoming calls while in roaming outside metro cities Mumbai and Delhi circle, now after this announcement from 1st Jan, 2016 onwards customers can receive Free incoming call anywhere in India. 


BSNL operates network to offer Free National Roaming across the country i.e covering all 20 circles in India where MTNL has its own network in metro cities.


Latest information from telecom sources BSNL may maintain and operate the network of MTNL on a revenue sharing basis and a decision in this regard can be taken in next 2 or 3 months. A special committee has been formed to finalise the matter of revenue sharing and implementation.

In a statement Minister of Telecommunications Ravi Shankar said, ‘MTNL customers can enjoy an-India free incoming roaming facility from today. “From today MTNL joins @BSNLCorporate to offer nation-wide free roaming. So travel across the country without roaming charge’.


BSNL like PSU already offering Free National Roaming to receive incoming calls while in Roaming any where in India from June, 2015 onwards.
