Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has surpassed Tata Sky by offering a better 150 Mbps broadband plan.
BSNL Bharat Fiber offers its 150 Mbps plan for Rs 949 per month. At the same time, Tata Sky Broadband offers the same speed plan for Rs 1050 per month. That's 100 rupees expensive before tax is included.
Both companies offer free landline voice calling with their 150 Mbps broadband plans. So the price difference is the only reason why BSNL's plan is better than Tata Sky's plan? Not really, here's what you need to know.
BSNL 150 Mbps broadband plan with OTT benefits which Tata Sky does not include
Keep in mind that BSNL includes additional over-the-top (OTT) benefits that Tata Sky doesn't offer. With the BSNL 150Mbps plan, users will have access to SonyLIV Premium, ZEE5, Voot Premium and YUPP TV. Also, with this plan, BSNL offers a 90% discount up to Rs 500 on the first month bill.
There is another big difference between the two plans. It is in the amount of Fair Use Policy (FUP) data offered to the customer. BSNL offers users 2,000GB or 2TB of data per month, while Tata Sky Broadband offers 3,300GB or 3.3TB of data.
After FUP data consumption, the internet speed for BSNL users with this plan would drop to 10 Mbps. But that's not really a big deal. There is hardly a user who can consume 2 TB of data per month. Even with a large family, it is quite difficult to do with a 150 Mbps plan.
So while Tata Sky Broadband offers 3.3TB of monthly data, which is more than what BSNL offers users, there isn't much benefit Tata Sky users will get here. It will have more or less the same impact on the user. But with the added benefits on offer, BSNL offers one of the best 150 Mbps plans on the market right now.
